# Angels

## Overview

Cira's angels are known as the "Umbral Seraphs." They are beings of dark beauty, with ebony wings and eyes that shimmer with both alluring warmth and chilling coldness.

* Ebony Wings of Desire: Their wings are not made of simple feathers. They are woven from solidified shadow and captured whispers of passion. When they move, they do not rustle; they create a low, melodic hum that resonates with the viewer's own heartbeat. The surface of their wings shimmers with a pearlescent sheen that doesn't reflect light, but instead reflects the viewer's most secret, repressed desires, making eye contact with a Seraph an act of intimate, terrifying revelation.

### Origin

The two origins of the Umbral Seraphs have created two distinct factions within their host, bound by loyalty to Cira but divided by philosophy and method.

1. **The Ebon-Born (The Crafted)**:
 * These are the purists, crafted directly from the essence of Velcrathis itself. They are beings of perfect duality, born with an innate understanding of pleasure and pain as cosmic forces. They are the artists, the philosophers, and the tempters of the host. They see their work as a grand, divine art form.
 * Worldview: They view mortals and their struggles with a detached, artistic curiosity. To them, a mortal's life is a canvas upon which a masterpiece of sensation can be painted. They are patient, manipulative, and prefer psychological seduction over direct confrontation.
 * Methods: An Ebon-Born would tempt a king by subtly altering his dreams over months, nurturing a latent desire until it consumes his every waking thought. They are the architects of beautiful, slow-burning tragedies and ecstatic downfalls.
2. **The Twice-Born (The Ascended)**:
 * These are the mortals who earned their wings. They are souls who, in life, walked the "fine line between hedonism and self-destruction" and proved their unwavering devotion to Cira's principles. They retain the echoes of their mortal passions, vices, and memories, making them more volatile, more direct, and often, more cruel. They are the enforcers, the interrogators, and the shock troops.
 * Worldview: They have little patience for mortal hesitation, having already transcended it. They see weakness and self-denial as pathetic flaws to be exploited or carved away. They believe true sensation is earned through action, not contemplation.
 * Methods: A Twice-Born would tempt that same king by seducing his most trusted advisor, learning all his secrets, and then presenting the king with an ultimatum that pits his power against his passion in a single, explosive moment. They are masters of the sharp, sudden application of emotional leverage.

### Roles

Their duties are far more nuanced than their titles suggest.

* **Messengers**: When an Umbral Seraph delivers a message from Cira, the words carry a fraction of her power. A message of praise might cause the recipient to experience a wave of pure ecstasy, while a message of disappointment can inflict phantom wounds that ache with the cold of despair. The message is not just heard; it is *felt*.
* **Enforcers:** They do not enforce laws, but authenticity. Their primary targets are those within Velcrathis who commit the heresy of the Veiled Heart—lying to themselves. An enforcer will not kill such a person, but will become their personal shadow, subtly manipulating their life to force them into situations where their lie becomes untenable, often leading to a spectacular and messy confrontation with their own true nature.
* **Tempters:** In the mortal realm, this is their highest calling. They act as "catalysts" for greatness and ruin. They will become the muse for a brilliant but timid artist, driving them to madness to unlock their genius. They will find a would-be revolutionary and stoke their righteous anger into an all-consuming fire that burns down a nation, and the revolutionary along with it. Their goal is not to gather souls, but to force mortals to live—and often die—at the absolute peak of their emotional capacity.
* **Guardians of Velcrathis:** They guard the borders of the realm not against armies, but against concepts. They are the first point of contact for any newcomers. They test the wills of those who seek entry, creating personalized illusions and temptations. To enter Velcrathis, one must prove to the Umbral Seraphs that they have the strength to face their own desires without flinching. To fail is to be turned away, or to be rendered an Enthralled soul before ever setting foot inside.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://pantheon-of-paradoxes.gitbook.io/pop/velcrathis/angels.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
